| History of the Derby City Browns Backers The Derby City Browns Backers chapter was founded officially in 1989, when Kelly Buckman, Roy Cade and Nate McBarron decided to organize an official club for themselves and their fellow Browns fans. At that time, there were no Browns Backers clubs in Louisville, so this chapter grew quickly to around 100 members. Over the years, we have grown into a real family of good friends who love their Brownies! We organize a bus trip each year to see the Browns play in an away game, and we caravan to Cleveland for a home game once a year - there's nothing on this planet like a home game in Cleveland! What a party! We stuck together through the loss of our beloved team, and continued to meet during the hiatus to root for whichever team was playing against the Ravens! It was good to have old friends to lean on during that difficult time. We have had to change locations a couple of times, but we found a happy home several years ago at Benchwarmers Pizza & Subs. We meet there on game days and for meetings during the off-season. If you are ever in town, and the Browns are playing, stop in and say "Hi"! We'd love to see you! GO BROWNS! | |||||||||
